Q: Can I set speaker distances and levels from the app?

Yes. AVR Maestro reads your Denon or Marantz speaker setup live and lets you edit amp assign and layout, per-speaker distances, channel levels, crossovers and subwoofer settings, all following the active Speaker Preset.

Q: Why are some speaker screens locked?

When a Dirac Live filter is active on a Speaker Preset, Dirac owns the layout, distances and crossovers. Rather than let you push edits the receiver would reject, AVR Maestro shows a clear lock and tells you why. Switch to a non-Dirac preset to edit them.

Q: What are Speaker Presets?

Speaker Preset 1 and 2 each store their own layout, distances, levels, crossovers and calibration. AVR Maestro lets you switch between them, and every Speakers screen follows the active preset. On receivers with only one preset, such as the AVR-X4500H, the selector stays hidden.

Speaker Layout: amp assignment and per-speaker Spkr / Pre-out configuration.
Distances: per-speaker distance from your seat, in the receiver's units (m or ft).
Levels: per-speaker trim level.
Crossovers: the frequency below which bass routes to the sub (only "small" speakers appear; "large" run full-range).
Subwoofer: subwoofer output settings.
Bass: LPF for LFE (the low-pass cutoff for the LFE channel) and LFE Distribution (route the LFE .1 channel to full-range speakers - only offered when the receiver allows it).
Preset: switch between Speaker Preset 1 / 2 - each stores its own layout, distances, levels, crossovers and calibration. On receivers with only one preset (the AVR-X4500H, for example) the selector stays hidden rather than offering a switch that goes nowhere.
Front Speaker: which front terminals the receiver drives - A, B or A+B - on the chassis that offer it. Where the receiver has greyed the setting out, the app says it is locked rather than pretending the change will take.

Tap the speaker layout and it opens as a grid: what the incoming signal carries on the left, what your receiver is actually driving on the right. A stereo track shows two input channels beside eleven outputs, and you can see the upmix doing its work.

The receiver names its own speakers. Every label comes off the wire, so a chassis with speakers this app has never heard of still draws them in the right places.
Three states, not two: playing, connected but silent, and absent. A speaker your receiver says is not in this signal is not drawn at all.
Add it where you want it: the grid is available as a Home-screen card and on the Remote tab.

Smart about Dirac

It won't let you push edits the receiver would reject

The screens above are fully editable on a standard Speaker Preset. But when a Dirac Live filter is active on a preset, Dirac owns the layout, distances and crossovers - so instead of letting you make changes the receiver would silently ignore, AVR Maestro shows a clear lock and tells you exactly why. Switch to a non-Dirac preset to edit them.

Older firmware? On some pre-2025 receivers (the X4500H / X6700H / S960H / X4700H class), the receiver can't serve the Speaker Layout or Subwoofer Output screens to the app over the network. Rather than show a broken screen, AVR Maestro hands you a one-tap button straight into the receiver's own web control for those edits - the rest of the Speakers suite still works normally. Receivers on newer firmware serve every screen directly.

Can I send the LFE channel to my front speakers without a subwoofer?

Yes, on receivers that support it. When your main speakers are set to Full Range in Crossovers and the receiver isn't routing the LFE to a subwoofer, the Bass screen's LFE Distribution sends the LFE (.1) channel to those speakers with a per-speaker level. AVR Maestro only offers it when the receiver actually allows it - if the speakers aren't Full Range, or a subwoofer is configured to take the LFE, the receiver locks the setting and the app shows exactly why. It can never route bass to a speaker the receiver forbids. The LPF for LFE control on the same screen sets the low-pass cutoff for the LFE channel.
