Older Denon?

Networked Denon models from 2014 on are generally supported. If HEOS and the official Denon app see it, so does AVR Maestro.

Not sure?

The real test isn't the model - it's the network

AVR Maestro reaches your receiver over your local network, so compatibility comes down to whether the receiver is reachable, not just its model number.

  • The receiver's own web portal loads in a browser on your phone.
  • The HEOS app finds and controls the receiver.
  • The official Denon or Marantz app connects to it.
  • Its network ports aren't blocked by a guest network, IoT VLAN or strict firewall.
If those can all talk to your receiver, AVR Maestro will see it too - and it reads your specific model's capabilities on connect, only showing controls your chassis actually exposes.

A note on older firmware

On some pre-2025 receivers (the X4500H, X6700H, S960H and X4700H class), the receiver can't serve the Speaker Layout or Subwoofer Output screens to the app over the network. AVR Maestro hands you a one-tap button into the receiver's own web control for those edits - the rest of the app works normally. Receivers on newer firmware serve every screen directly.
